Jayla Scott is a multimedia painter based in San Diego, California. She has earned her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art at the University of Laverne. She is currently earning her associate’s degree in Museum Studies with Professor Alessandra Moctezuma at Mesa College. Her work explores themes of improving mental health and navigating daily life with Jesus Christ as the primary focus. Inspired by her own life challenges, her identity as a Black American, and her passion for uplifting her community, Jayla creates artworks that encourage viewers to treat themselves and others better. Her work captures the beauty of the journey of mental self-improvement and its benefits to the community. Her work has been featured at the Emerging Art Gallery in Downtown LA in 2023 and at the Shift Gallery in Ocean Beach in 2025. Jayla is currently creating work for the Bonita Museum’s upcoming Dia de los Muertos exhibition in October 2026. She is working on her print club/snail mail business to make her art easily accessible to people across the country.
