Hello, I’m Jayla!
I am a 24-year-old multimedia artist. I primarily work with acrylic paints, oil pastels, gouache, cardboard, stretched canvases, and wood panels. I paint portraits, animals, and landscapes that combine to tell a story. Lately, my artwork has focused on Bible scriptures used to illustrate mental health topics, as I am passionate about helping others through my art.
As I've grown and faced the challenges of young adulting, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that my art uplifts others through God’s truth. I share what I have learned, what I have overcome, and what I have gone through in hopes that others are inspired to love themselves more and deepen their relationship with Christ! Improving mental health has always been a passion of mine, as I know I am not the only person who goes through hard times. The more I learn how to improve my mental health, the more I want to share the process with my community! Community is important to me as I have known what it's like to feel alone. It's a scary place that nobody should experience. Being part of the Black and Mexican communities, I have seen the importance of standing strong together. We all have trauma, and it's our responsibility to heal from it. Although that doesn’t mean we need to heal alone.
This revelation sparked a shift in my artistic journey. Now, my art isn't just about what makes me happy. It’s about guiding others to be happy with themselves. I understand that we will not fully be happy in ourselves overnight, but I have faith that we will truly be happy the more we practice goodness. That's why I believe it's crucial to learn how to heal, overcome obstacles, and continuously strive to be our best selves. My art aims to be a friendly companion on this journey by helping you connect with your emotions, discover healthy steps for self-improvement, build confidence and love for yourself and others, and, lastly, deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ.
So, whether you're looking for a relatable piece that speaks to your soul, seeking inspiration for your growth journey, or just in need of a colorful reminder, with the grace of God, He will have my art provide.
